This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and your rights under applicable Canadian privacy legislation, including Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
We've written this in plain language because we believe you should be able to understand how your information is handled without needing a law degree.

Consent
By creating an account, submitting a form, or using our services, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this policy.
You may withdraw your consent at any time by contacting us at hello@slba.ca. Withdrawing consent may mean we can no longer provide some or all of our services to you. We will explain the consequences when you make your request.
What Is Public vs. Private
We are careful about what information is visible to whom:
Visible to everyone (public):
Your business name, representative name, category, tagline, description, city, province, website link, years serving seniors, founding member status, and logo. These fields are displayed in the public member directory. You control this content through your listing.
Visible only to logged-in members:
Your phone number, email address, office address, collaboration interests, and other contact details. These are only shown to other authenticated Silver Longevity members.
Visible only to you and SLBA administrators:
Your account password (stored encrypted — we cannot see it), referral details, introduction request messages, Find Help submissions, contact form messages, and speaker applications.
Never shared publicly:
We never sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.
Information About Others
When you submit a referral, you provide the name and contact information of a third party. By submitting this information, you confirm that you have the individual's knowledge or consent to share their information for the purpose of connecting them with a Silver Longevity member.
When you submit a Find Help request that describes another person's situation (such as an aging parent), we treat that information with particular care given its potentially sensitive nature. This information is only shared with specific Silver Longevity members who we believe can help, and only with your knowledge.
How We Protect Your Information
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your personal information:
- Your account password is encrypted and cannot be viewed by SLBA staff or administrators.
- Our database uses row-level security policies that restrict access to information based on user roles and authentication status.
- Data is transmitted using HTTPS encryption.
- Access to administrative tools is restricted to authorized SLBA personnel.
No method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While we take reasonable steps to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
